Can I arrange an on-site audit of PairGears through an independent inspection company?

Ask PairGears to confirm the proposed on-site audit in writing before booking an inspection company. Its public materials invite audit-pack requests, but they do not establish blanket access for every auditor, site or process. Agree the facility, scope, date, confidentiality arrangements and records to be examined, then obtain the supplier's acceptance of the visit.

Confirm the visit and its purpose

Name the inspection company, proposed auditors, production address and processes you want to review. Agree who books and pays for the audit, who receives the report, and whether any customer or subcontractor permission is needed.

An independent company can perform a supplier audit on a buyer's behalf. That does not automatically make the visit a certification audit. Also distinguish a factory-system review from inspection of a particular shipment. PairGears' quality-control page provides a starting point for choosing the scope.

Agree access to observable evidence

  • Production: identify the operations and work orders that can be observed during the visit.
  • Measurement: request relevant calibration status, inspection methods and traceable results.
  • Lot records: follow a permitted example from material receipt through processing and release.
  • Access limits: settle photography, recording, NDA, safety induction and restricted areas beforehand.

Review external processing separately where it matters. Access to PairGears' facility does not automatically include a subcontractor's site or confidential customer records.

Example: define a limited, checkable audit scope

A proposed scope might cover one selected gear family, one production route and one traceable lot. Ask the auditor to record what was observed, which records were sampled, any inaccessible areas and each finding's supporting evidence. This is a planning example, not a booked PairGears audit.

Agree how findings will be reviewed, who supplies corrective-action evidence and how closure will be verified. Avoid treating a single visit as approval of every future part or batch. You can send PairGears your proposed audit scope for confirmation.
